FUN HOME Heading Across the Pond? Director Sam Gold 'Can't Confirm or Deny'

Following John Cameron Mitchell's confirmation that HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH would be heading to the West End, the Bechdels might soon be following suit.

In the press room after accepting the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical, FUN HOME's Sam Gold told reporters that he and producers would 'love to' bring the Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron musical to London, though at this point, he couldn't "confirm or deny" that it would happen. His mind might change "around 11 o'clock" or so one the broadcast wraps and the afterparties begin.

Kron and Tesori just took home the 2015 Tony Award for Best Original Score of a Musical, making history as the first female writing pair to do so. Kron was also the recipient of the Tony for Best Book of a Musical.

Fun Home, the highly-anticipated, Award-winning American musical, opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street) on April 19th. The show features music by four-time Tony Award nominee Jeanine Tesori, a book and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Lisa Kron and direction by Drama Desk nominee Sam Gold.
