Victoria Hamilton-Barritt garnered fabulous reviews last year as she teetered about on heels, heavily pregnant, as Daniela in the Olivier-nominated 'In The Heights'. Now a new mum, she's returning to the stage as the Narrator in 'Murder Ballad' - starring Kerry Ellis.
"I love murder ballads in general anyway!" says Hamilton-Barritt, who's a fan of Johnny Cash. "That sounds quite morbid. It's a really exciting musical, and I think it's a relevant story to many people - the love triangle and what-not.
"I'm so excited about this. It explores love's complications and the reality of compromises. It's a gripping concept."
She is looking forward to working with Ellis; the rest of the cast hasn't been confirmed yet, but BWW:UK understand that the male roles will be filled by a West End veteran and a newer star.
She's also hoping to find time to go and see the new cast of 'In The Heights'.
"I really wanted to try and make it work - we were hoping to try and make it work after having had my baby - but as I thought more deeply about it, the show goes up late and comes down late. And I've done that show now - it was absolutely the best time of my life. It's the show of my life - that and 'Gypsy' have been the most interesting things I've ever done. It's so dear to my heart."
Murder Ballad runs at the Arts Theatre from September 29th.
