Myth. Matriarch. Murderer. Erzsébet Báthory was one of the most powerful women in sixteenth century Europe; heiress to a powerful dynasty, wife of a decorated war-hero and countess of a vast fortune. She later became a sadistic serial killer - allegedly killing nearly 600 young women in cold blood. Skin Deep explores faith, power, sexuality and a touch of the paranormal to investigate Bathory's friendships, her struggles with the societal confines of her existence and what really makes a murderer.

After a sell-out run at The Old Red Lion, as part of the London Horror Festival in October 2016, 'Skin Deep' returns to the Camden Fringe, written by Lee Anderson of SQUINT and Performance Anxiety and produced by Attila Theatre.
Attila strive to create theatre that gets to grips with popular culture, using dark, piercing humour and a messy yet distinctive visual style. We are drawn to stories about women that are set within stereotypically masculine realms.
