Doon Mackichan Joins Tamsin Greig In JUMPY At Royal Court Theatre From Oct 13

The cast has been announced for April de Angelis's new play Jumpy at The Royal Court Theatre from 13 October (press night 19 October). Tamsin Greig, playing Hilary, is joined by Doon Mackichan as her best friend Francis.

The cast also includes Seline Hizli, Richard Lintern, Michael Marcus, James Musgrave, Bel Powley, Ewan Stewart and Sarah Woodward.

The production is directed by Nina Raine, designed by Lizzie Clachan with lighting by Peter Mumford and Sound by Paul Arditti.

A mother, a wife, and fifty, Hilary once protested at Greenham. Now her protests tend to focus on persuading her teenage daughter to go out fully clothed. A frank and funny family drama questioning parental anxieties and life after fifty.

Tamsin Greig plays Hilary. Her theatre credits include The Little Dog Laughed in the West End, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award, Gethsemane at The National Theatre, The God of Carnage in the West End. She played Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the RSC for which she won Olivier and Critics' Circle Awards. On film, her credits include Tamara Drewe and Cuckoo and on television, she has most recently starred in Episodes and Channel 4's Friday Night Dinner. Her previous credits include Black Books, Green Wing, Love Soup and the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma. On radio, she plays the part of Debbie Aldridge in Radio 4's The Archers.

Seline Hizli plays Lyndsey. Her credits include BBC's The Land Girls, in which she made her TV debut. Richard Lintern plays Roland. His most recent credits include As You Desire Me at The Playhouse and the Duchess of Malfi at the RSC.

Doon Mackichan plays Francis, Hilary's best friend. She last appeared at the Royal Court in The Queen and I. Her theatre credits include The Government Inspector at Young Vic, Loot at the Tricycle and Boeing Boeing in the West End. She also wrote and performed Primadoona at the Edinburgh Festival last year. She is well known for her comedy work; she co-wrote and performed in the double Emmy Award-winning Smack the Pony on Channel 4. Her other comedy work includes Chris Morris' The Day Today and Brass Eye and Knowing Me, Knowing You With Alan Partridge.

Michael Marcus plays Cam. He has recently graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. James Musgrave plays Josh. His credits include Wanderlust at the Royal Court and on television, he appeared in the Channel 4 adaptation of Any Human Heart.

Bel Powley plays Hilary's daughter Tilly. She last appeared at the Royal Court in Tusk Tusk. She is currently appearing in on Broadway playing the leading role of Thomasina in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia directed by David Leveaux until June 2011.

Ewan Stewart plays Hilary's husband Mark. His theatre credits include Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare's Globe, Beautiful Burnout for The National Theatre of Scotland, Sergeant Musgrave's Dance and Major Barbara at The National Theatre. He previously appeared at the Royal Court in Road..

Sarah Woodward plays Josh's mum Bea. Her credits include The Cherry Orchard at The National Theatre and Snake in the Grass at The Print Room

April De Angelis' work at the Royal Court includes Wild East, Catch (a collaboration with four other female playwrights). Her credits elsewhere include Calais for Paines Plough, Country as part of the Terror Season at Southwark Playhouse, Playhouse Creature .and an adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Nina Raine directs. Both a writer and a director, her last play Tribes at the Royal Court was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Play. She also directed Alia Bano's Shades at the Royal Court in 2009, which went on to win Evening Standard and Critics' Circle awards.

Her other credits include Tiger Country at Hampstead Theatre, which she both wrote and directed. She also directed her debut play Rabbit, which premiered at the Old Red Lion Theatre in 2006 and transferred to the Trafalgar Studios in the West End, winning her the Charles Wintour Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright and the Critics' Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright. Nina started her career at the Royal Court as a trainee director.
