Donmar Warehouse Appoints New Executive Producer

The Donmar Warehouse today announces the appointment of Nick Giles as the new Executive Producer, taking over from James Bierman. Giles will join Artistic Director Michael Grandage as he enters his final year with the company, and work alongside the core Executive team. He takes up the appointment effective as of 31 January 2011.

Since 2008, Nick Giles has been Director of the Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts. He is also currently Chair of Hextable Dance and a trustee of Oxford Contemporary Music - one of the UK's leading new music organisations. In August 2010 he joined the Arts Council England, South East regional council. Prior to taking up his position in Newbury, he was Deputy Director of Oxford Playhouse and previously Centre Director of Riverside Studios. Between 2002 and 2008, he was a Director of the IF festival of new music.

On his appointment Nick Giles commented, "I feel enormously privileged to be joining the Donmar Warehouse at such an exciting time. It's an amazing opportunity to work with Michael Grandage during his last year and with a new artistic director as they start their first. The Donmar has always punched above its weight with the quality and ambition of its work and I am excited by the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead."

The Chair of the Board of Directors, Rt Hon Lord Smith of Finsbury said, "Nick comes with an impressive record of success at Oxford and at Newbury, and we are all excited to be welcoming him to the Donmar. He's absolutely the right person to take forward the achievements that James Bierman has put in place for us over recent years."
