After a year and a half of performances Julie Atherton, Jon Robyns and Simon Lipkin will be leaving the company of Avenue Q on December 3.
From December 3 the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut will be taken by Rebecca Lock. Most recently Rebecca played the role of Joan Aldriin in the highly acclaimed Moon Landing at Derby Playhouse, previously she covered and played the role of Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre, London and was a guest performer at a special gala performance of Side by Side by Sondheim at the Novello Theatre. Other credits include Gilda in Alfie (Watford Palace Theatre); Bertrande in Martin Guerre (Prince Edward Theatre); Jellyrolum in Cats (New London Theatre).
The roles of Princeton and Rod will be played by Daniel Boys. Daniel was recently seen in the TV series "Any Dream Will Do," BBC 1's search for Joseph. His theatre credits include: Austin Bennett in the UK Premiere of I Love You Because (Landor Theatre); Anthony in Sweeney Todd (Royal Festival Hall); Mark in Rent (European Tour); Person Nathaniel in the world premiere of The War of the Worlds (National Tour); Doody in Grease (Victoria Palace Theatre and Japan Tour) and Morino in Sunset Boulevard (National Tour).
Christopher Fry will play the role of Brian. His theatre credits include Oh What A Lovely War and Song of Singapore (Octagon Theatre) and Hot Mikado (Watermill, Newbury).
Mary Doherty and Delroy Atkinson will continue in the roles of Mrs T/Bad Idea Bear and Gary Coleman respectively. New cast members in the roles of Christmas Eve and Trekkie Monster/Nicky will be announced shortly.
Avenue Q arrived in London's West End in June 2006, and has, since then, been a hugely popular hit with audiences. Proving a big draw with young audiences, the show has bucked trends in the West End and is fast becoming a lasting fixture and winning a series of awards along the way, including: the Variety Club Award for Best Musical, and Best Ensemble Performance in the Whats On Stage, Theatregoers Awards 2007.
Due to popular demand, the show has extended its booking period until September 28th 2008. Weekday ticket pricing has been a huge success and will remain between £10 - £35, with a limited number of premium seats at £55.
Avenue Q has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx; and directed by Jason Moore.
Avenue Q has puppets conceived and designed by Rick Lyon; musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, and choreography by Ken Roberson. Avenue Q 's scenic design is by Anna Louizos, costume design by Mirena Rada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners.
