Casting for Regent Park Open Air Theatre's production of To Kill A Mockingbird was announced today. Daniel Betts will play Atticus Finch alongside Zackary Momoh as Tom Robinson, Christopher Akrill as Boo Radley. Original cast member and composer Phil King will reprise his role.
Daniel Betts is an accomplished stage actor whose previous theatre credits include Skylight (National Theatre), The Winter's Tale (Royal Shakespeare Company), Dial M for Murder (UK Tour), Sweet Bird of Youth (Old Vic), The Great Game (Tricycle, NYC & US Tour) and The King's Speech (Wyndham's Theatre). Daniel's previous television roles include Criminal Justice, Law and Order and A Touch of Frost.
Christopher Akrill began his career as a dancer and has worked with companies including Scottish Ballet, Northern Ballet and Hannover State Ballet. Christopher's theatre credits include Dr Dee (Manchester International Festival) and Waiting for Godot (Munich). He has appeared on screen in Joe Wright's Anna Karenina, The Muppets Most Wanted and ITV's Mr Selfridge.
Zackary Momoh has recently appeared on stage at the National Theatre in From Morning to Midnight and Sir Nicholas Hytner's critically acclaimed production of Othello. His other stage credits include Palm, Wine and Stout (UK Tour) and The Bay (Young Vic). Zackary has also appeared on screen in Holby City, Doctors and Travel Express.
Reprising his role for 2014, Phil King composed and performed the critically acclaimed score for the 2013 production at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. Phil has composed music for television, film and theatre and has released two albums to critical acclaim. Many of his tracks have been played on BBC Radio 2 by the likes of Bob Harris, Steve Lamacq and Alex Lester, as well as on regional BBC stations.
Full casting includes Geoff Aymer (Reverend Sykes), Victoria Bewick (Mayella Ewell), David Carlyle (Nathan Radley/Mr Gilmer), Natalie Grady (Miss Maudie Atkinson), Jamie Kenna (Heck Tate), Susan Lawson Reynolds (Calpurnia) andChristopher Saul (Mrs Walter Cunningham/Judge Taylor). Jemima Bennett, Ava Potter and Rosie Boore will share the role of Scout whilst Harry Bennett, Arthur Franks and Billy Price will share the role of Jem. The role of Dill will be shared by Leo Heller, Connor Brundish and Milo Panni.
Directed by Timothy Sheader, To Kill a Mockingbird originally opened Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's 2013 season to critical acclaim and sell out performances. Due to popular demand, it will return to conclude the 2014 season at the Open Air Theatre before heading out on its first UK tour. The tour begins on 15 September 2014 at Canterbury Marlowe Theatre and then will tour to Norwich, Malvern, Woking, Leicester, Cardiff, High Wycombe, Cambridge and Birmingham. Proving its success across every art form, the 1960 novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, followed by the film adaptation in 1962 which won three Oscars out of the eight it was nominated for.
The UK tour of To Kill a Mockingbird is produced by Regent's Park Theatre Ltd, Fiery Angel, Adam Spiegel and William Village.

Victoria Bewick is an actress originally from Gateshead whose film credits include Dark Shadows and The Iron Lady. Her television credits include Doctors, Call The Midwife, Young Dracula, Breathless and 13 Steps Down. Victoria is a recent graduate from Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre.
David Carlyle - Nathan Radley/Mr Gilmer
David Carlyle's recent stage credits include Three Sisters (Southwark Playhouse), Carpe Diem (National Theatre), Victoria (Dundee Rep), Somersaults (Finborough Theatre), Caledonia (National Theatre Scotland) and Hansel and Gretel (Citizens Theatre). David Carlyle is originally from Glasgow and lives in London.
Natalie Grady - Miss Maudie Atkinson
Natalie recently won Best Supporting Actress at the Manchester Theatre Awards for her role as Minnie Gascoigne in the Library Theatre's production of The Daughter-in-Law. Her other theatre credits include the Olivier Award-winning National Theatre production of Rafta Rafta, Samuel West's production of As You Like It (Sheffield Crucible) and Mother Courage and her Children (Library Theatre). Natalie's television credits include Coronation Street, Doctors and Jam and Jerusalem.
Jamie Kenna - Heck Tate
Theatre credits include Life of Riley, Communicating Doors (both Stephen Joseph Theatre) and the West End production of War HorseStormbreaker, Green Street and Eastenders.
Phil King - Composer & Musician
An original cast member from the 2013 production at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Phil is a composer and performer who has composed music for television, film and theatre, including To Kill A Mockingbird and his score for the original production was praised by many reviewers. He has released two albums to critical acclaim, and has had numerous tracks played on BBC Radio 2 by the likes of Bob Harris, Steve Lamacq and Alex Lester, as well as on regional BBC stations. He has performed all over the UK, at festivals and fayres, in pubs, clubs and bars, and performed in Paris, Zurich, Barcelona and New York.
Susan Lawson-Reynolds - Calpurnia
Susan Lawson-Reynolds is an actress and choreographer who has appeared on stage in The Clockwork Orange (Theatre Royal Stratford East), The Harder They Come (Theatre Royal Stratford East, Barbican & The Playhouse Theatre) and The Scottsboro Boys (Young Vic). Susan was also an Associate Choreographer for The Wiz (Birmingham Rep & West Yorkshire Playhouse) and Assistant Choreographer for The Harder They Come (The Playhouse Theatre).
