Inspired by the 7 smash hit multi-million selling albums of the same name, the West End sell out sensation DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS returns for another hit-packed UK tour in 2014, opening at the Sheffield Lyceum Theatre on 14 January. Featuring some of the greatest hit songs of the Rock 'n' Roll era, this whirl round the jukebox of one of the most dynamic musical decades continues to delight and entertain audiences around the country. The tour will visit Llandudno, Northampton, Manchester, Bromley, Oxford, Dartford, Belfast, Kings Lynn, Birmingham, Malvern, Sunderland, New Brighton, and Plymouth, with further dates and casting to be announced.
In 1961 emotions run high as young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win a national song writing competition, and, more importantly, the attentions of the gorgeous Sue. But when Bobby discovers that shy Laura is no slouch on the piano, love, and rock 'n' roll fame beckon.
Since premiering in Bromley in 2009 and having played to more than two million people across the UK, Dreamboats and Petticoats, inspired by Universal's multi-million selling album series (now boasting seven double compilation albums and a myriad of one off special releases) features some of the greatest songs of the Rock 'n' Roll era, when each passing week brought another classic track.
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the team behind Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds of a Feather, The New Statesman, Shine on Harvey Moon and of course, Dreamboats and Petticoat's sequel, Save the Last Dance For Me and is produced by Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield in association with Universal Music.
Featuring classic tracks from Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury, and many more, including Let's Dance, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Shaking All Over, Bobby's Girl, Little Town Flirt, Only Sixteen, Runaround Sue, Happy Birthday Sweet 16, Let It Be Me, Great Pretender, C'mon Everybody, Let's Twist Again and many more hits from music's golden era! Dreamboats and Petticoats - the songs will live forever!
