The annual Doors Open Days Festival offers people the chance to explore buildings in Glasgow that are not usually open to the public. The events at Doors Open Days are free, but some require advance booking. Theatre and arts centres participating in guided tours for Doors Open Days 2016, which takes place on 12-18 September, include:

King's Theatre

One of the finest remaining examples of Frank Matcham's eclectic mix of styles. The King's is a busy Working Theatre receiving large scale musicals, drama, dance and pantomime.

Theatre Royal

The Theatre Royal is managed by the Ambassadors Theatre Group and is the performance home to both Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet, and host to a variety of visiting performances. The theatre was transformed in 2014 following the dramatic extension of the foyer spaces.

Tron Theatre

The 16th-century clock tower that fronts the theatre is one of the oldest surviving landmarks of the historic Merchant City. Take a tour and discover the Tron's compelling past and what goes on behind the scenes today.

Citizens Theatre

A unique opportunity to take a guided tour around this iconic theatre and hear about the vibrant history of its Gorbals home. Explore backstage areas and get up close to hidden gems under the stage.

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall

The New Auditorium at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall is a specially designed space with variable acoustics that provides world-class rehearsal and recording facilities for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and offers Glasgow a magnificent new performance venue.

The Briggait

This beautiful A-listed building served as Glasgow's fish market for 100 years. It now provides work space for 80 artists and cultural organisations. The impressive 1873 Hall and gallery spaces regularly host all manner of exhibitions and events.

Scottish Youth Theatre

Housed at basement level, SYT resides in this purpose-designed conversion of Glasgow's former Sheriff Court. Get a glimpse behind the scenes at Scotland's National Youth Theatre, featuring rehearsal rooms, a dance studio and a Studio Theatre with backstage facilities.

Booking for theatre tours opens at 10am on August 24th and details are available on the Glasgow Doors Open day website.
