A new poll conducted by the Cinema Advertising Association has named the 1987 film Dirty Dancing the UK's Number One film of all time, beating off competition from Star Wars and The Lord Of The Rings.

This phenomenal silver screen success story is repeated nightly in the West End show of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage. The coming of age love story between the sweet and innocent Frances ‘Baby' Houseman and bad boy Johnny Castle wows audiences at the Aldwych Theatre. Upon opening in 2006, the show had broken all box office records and is now booking until April 2010, with many devotees returning time and time again.

The stage show, written by Eleanor Bergstein, script writer and creator of the phenomenally successful film, features all the much-loved characters from the iconic film as well as the tantalising dance sequences and the hits from the unforgettable soundtrack such as ‘Do You Love Me?', ‘Hungry Eyes' and the Academy Award Winning ‘(I've Had) The Time Of My Life'. As of 1 May 2009, over 4.9 million people worldwide have seen Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage including celebrities such as Dame Judi Dench, Matt Damon, Tess Daly, Penny Lancaster, Sir Ian McKellen, Barbara Windsor, Graham Norton plus members of the Royal Family including the Duchess of York and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

The stage show is directed by James Powell, music supervisor Conrad Helfrich, choreographer Kate Champion, set design Stephen Brimson Lewis, lighting design Tim Mitchell, sound design Bobby Aitken, video and projection design Jon Driscoll, Ballroom and Latin choreographer Craig Wilson and costume design Jennifer Irwin.
