Following a triumphant season at the Edinburgh Fringe, acclaimed character comedian Colin Hoult (BBC3's Being Human, Channel 4's Derek) returns to London's Soho Theatre as his most delightful character, Ms Anna Mann, in a show to put down your black dog at last (or at least chuck him a bone).

Have you ever been depressed? Anna Mann has and it was f*cking sh*t. After a complete mental meltdown whilst playing Lady M, the once much loved siren of the stage and screen found herself friendless, penniless, arguably pointless. Formerly the star of such productions as Who's for Turkish Delight (short film, channel 4, 3am, 1992), she now couldn't even get work downstairs at the Tittery Whoppit, Chiswick, and they'll have anyone. She went looking for help from the NHS but, due to massive cuts, all they could offer her was a dreary group therapy session. Within 10 minutes she was running the group, within 20 the therapist had retired, and within the hour the group were planning a show.

In A Sketch Show for Depressives, Anna tackles the thorny issues of anxiety and depression through a series of stupid jokes and silly little vignettes. Anna will also portray highly strung PE teacher, Mr Robinson, nihilist documentary maker-Wolfman Hoffman, and others.

Colin Hoult has had a brush with anxiety and depression himself. Having sought help, he found that creating this show helped him crawl out of his funk. A Sketch Show For Depressives is the culmination of all Colin's ground-breaking comedy work to date, an avalanche of fun, silliness, deft character turns and joyous interaction, whilst hopefully having something interesting and daring to say about a truly awful and misunderstood condition experienced by so many, yet rarely tackled.

Colin Hoult has created and starred in 2 series' of his own BBC Radio 4 show Carnival of Monsters (based on his previous Edinburgh Fringe shows) and his extensive TV credits include Being Human (BBC3), Derek (Channel 4), Murder in Successville (BBC3), Nurse (BBC2) and Life's Too Short (BBC2).
