Catherine Tate, Mike McShane, Carly Bawden and More to Star in ASSASSINS at Menier Chocolate Factory, November

Carly Bawden, Simon Lipkin, Mike McShane, Andy Nyman, David Roberts and Catherine Tate have been cast in Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's ASSASSINS, directed by Jamie Lloyd, at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 21st November 2014 - 7th March 2015. Press Night is Monday 1st December, 8pm. Public booking opens today.

Thirteen people have tried to kill the president of the United States. Four have succeeded. These murderers and would-be murderers are generally dismissed as maniacs and misfits who have little in common with each other, and nothing in common with the rest of us. ASSASSINS suggests otherwise...

Carly Bawden will play "Squeaky" Fromme. Theatre credits include Dead Dog in a Suitcase, Tristan & Yseultand The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Kneehigh Theatre), Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady (Sheffield Crucible), The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (Kensington Gardens) and Pippin (Menier Chocolate Factory).

Simon Lipkin will play The Proprietor. His recent theatre includes I Can't Sing - The X Factor Musical(Palladium), Rock of Ages (Shaftesbury) and Nicky and Trekkie in Avenue Q (Noel Coward Theatre).

Mike McShane will play Samuel Byck. His theatre credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Menier Chocolate Factory, Duke of York's and Ambassadors), La Cage aux Folles (Broadway), Tailor-Made Man (Arts), Marlon Brando's Corset (Edinburgh Festival and tour). TV includes Who's Line Is It, Anyway?, Doctor Who andBluestone 42. Film includes Peggy Sue Got Married and Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.

Andy Nyman will play Charles Guiteau. Theatre includes Abigail's Party (Menier Chocolate Factory and Wyndham's), Terrible Advice (Menier Chocolate Factory), Ghost Stories (Liverpool Everyman, Lyric Hammersmith and Duke of Yorks). TV includes Peaky Blinders, Campus and Dead Set. Films include Kick Ass 2, Death at a Funeral and Severance.

David Roberts will play Leon Czolgosz. Theatre includes Carl in Ghost The Musical (national tour), Mamma Mia! (international tour) and Aspects of Love (Menier Chocolate Factory). Film includes Les Miserables.

Catherine Tate will play Sara Jane Moore. Theatre credits include Much Ado About Nothing (Wyndham's),Season's Greetings (National Theatre), Under the Blue Sky (Duke of York's), Some Girls (Gielgud) and A Servant to Two Masters (RSC; New Ambassadors and international tour). Catherine is known to television audiences for The Catherine Tate Show as well as Big School, Doctor Who and The Office (US). Films include:Nativity 3 - Dude, Where's My Donkey?; Gulliver's Travels, Monte Carlo, Starter for Ten, Sixty-six and Scenes of a Sexual Nature.

Director Jamie Lloyd's most recent credits include Richard III with Martin Freeman (Trafalgar Studios),Urinetown (St James and Apollo) and The Commitments (Palace Theatre).

Set and costume design is by Soutra Gilmour. Recent credits include Richard III (Trafalgar Studios); Urinetown (St James and Apollo); From Here to Eternity (Shaftesbury) and Merrily We Roll Along (Chocolate Factory and Harold Pinter - Olivier nomination for Best Costume Design).

Lighting design is by Neil Austin whose credits include Shakespeare in Love (Noel Coward); Great Britain (National); Henry V (Noel Coward); The Weir (Wyndham's) and Dealer's Choice (Menier Chocolate Factory and Trafalgar Studios).

Sound design is by Gregory Clarke. His credits include My Night With Reg (Donmar); Medea (National) and Two Into One, The Lyons, The Color Purple, Travels With My Aunt and Proof (all Menier Chocolate Factory).

Musical supervision and direction is by Alan Williams. Credits include A Chorus Line (Palladium); Shrek (Theatre Royal Drury Lane); The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Passion (both at the Donmar Warehouse).

Hair & make- up design is by Richard Mawbey. His theatre credits include Forbidden Broadway, Merrily We Roll Along, Sweet Charity and La Cage aux Folles (all for the Menier Chocolate Factory). Recent credits include Urinetown (St James), Richard III (Trafalgar), From Here to Eternity (Shaftesbury) and The Commitments (Palace).
