The cast for Brad Birch's Tremor at Sherman Theatre has been announced. The production, which will be directed by Sherman Theatre's Associate Director David Mercatali, will run from 12 Apr - 5 May at Wales's leading venue for new writing - which last week won The Stage's award for Best Regional Theatre.
This new play by Welsh playwright Brad Birch focuses on two people affected by a terrible tragedy and their very different approaches to life afterwards.
Lisa Diveney (The Green Green Grass- BBC) and Paul Rattray (Jamestown, Game of Thrones) play Sophie & Tom, a couple torn apart in the aftermath of tragedy. Coming face to face four years on, the realisation hits that trauma can not only tear you apart, it can change you forever. Lisa has also appeared in Donkey Heart (Trafalgar Studios & Old Red Lion); The Hypochondriac (Theatre Royal Bath); Aristocrats, The Glass Menagerie (Theatr Clwyd) and Moonlight, John Gabriel Borkman (Donmar Warehouse). Paul has also appeared in The Hook (Royal & Derngate Northampton & Liverpool Everyman); Little Light (The Orange Tree Theatre, Directed by David Mercatali); Wonderland (The Hampstead Theatre); Macbeth (Perth &Tron Theatre); Three Sisters (Young Vic); Racing Demon (Sheffield Theatres Crucibles Trust); Ditch (High Tide Festival); Black Watch (The National Theatre of Scotland); Cool Water Murder (Belgrade); Decky Does A Bronco (Grid Iron Theatre) and Dinner (National Theatre);
Sherman Theatre's newly appointed Associate Director David Mercatali will direct Tremor as his first production at the venue. His previous work includes Tender Napalm (Southwark Playhouse - nominated for an Evening Standard for Outstanding Newcomer); Blue Heart (Bristol Tobacco Factory Theatres & Orange Tree Theatre); Cargo, Insignificance (Arcola Theatre); Radiant Vermin (Tobacco Factory Theatres, Soho Theatre, 59E59 New York & Avignon Festival); Tonight with Donny Stixx (Edinburgh Fringe & The Bunker); Little Light (Orange Tree Theatre); Dark Vanilla Jungle (Edinburgh Fringe & Soho Theatre - Fringe First Award).
Speaking about the production, David Mercatali said: 'I am honoured to be working on this play and am looking forward to making my debut in the Sherman Studio. Tremor is a timely and important play from a major Welsh playwright.'
