Casting Announced For Sherman Theatre's DUBLIN CAROL Directed By Matthew Xia ImageThe cast for Conor McPherson's Dublin Carol at Sherman Theatre has been announced. The production, directed by exceptional director Matthew Xia (Wish List, Royal Exchange Theatre & Royal Court), will run from 1 - 17 Feb at Sherman Theatre (Press Night 5 Feb 7pm).

Playing Mark is Julian Moore-Cook, most recently seen in Mother Courage and her Children with Josie Lawrence at Southwark Playhouse. Previous credits also include Chris Urch's Bruntwood prize winning The Rolling Stone at the Orange Tree Theatre, and Three Sisters at the Lyric Theatre Belfast. He also plays series regular Callum in ITV's Benidorm.

Siwan Morris plays Mary, a ghost of Christmas-past who arrives attempting to initiate change. Welsh audiences may recognise Siwan from TV's Gwaith/Cartref¸in which she played Dr Stephanie Murphy. She has also appeared as series regulars in Skins and CBBCs Wolfblood. She previously appeared at the Sherman in Bird and Cloakroom, and other theatre includes Violence and Son and Gas Station Angel (Royal Court) and Knives in Hens (Theatre Royal Bath).

Simon Wolfe, last seen at Sherman Theatre in Conor McPherson's The Weir, takes on the role of bitter, belligerent and darkly humorous John. His previous theatre includes War Horse (National Theatre) Orpheus Descending (Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester) and Punk Rock (Lyric Hammersmith).

Director Matthew Xia says "I'm thrilled to be making my Welsh directorial debut in Cardiff at the Sherman, and with such a tremendous play. Conor McPherson has created a story analogous to Dickens' Christmas Carol - yet the spirits visiting our Scrooge come in liquid form and the ghost of Christmas past only has a small request. This play, like all of Conor's writing, is full to the brim with compassion, humanity, pathos and a brilliantly dark humour."

Dublin Carol is the first production in Sherman Theatre's eagerly anticipated Spring 2018 Season. Plagued by the unshakeable ghosts of his past an Irish undertaker relives the bleak story of his destructive life and alcohol abuse.
