E4's My Mad Fat Diary Star Sharon Rooney and the Henrys have recorded a cover of 'Daddy's Gone' by the band Glasvegas which features in the Donmar Warehouse production of Henry IV, directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
Profits from download sales will benefit Clean Break Theatre Company, Justice for Women and the Donmar's outreach work linked to Phyllida Lloyd's trilogy of all-female productions, of which Henry IV is the second.
Henry IV was preceded by an all-female production of Julius Caesar, both of which were set in a women's prison.
Around Henry IV, the Donmar has run an extensive outreach and education programme. This work aims to use the production to inspire women and girls to find their voices. The work around Henry IV has reached 1,500 girls and women and has undoubtedly had a life-changing effect for many of those involved.
Donmar's acclaimed production of Henry IV will perform in Tower Hamlets at Mulberry School for Girls between 9 and 13 December.
Central to this outreach work has been the production's partnership with Clean Break Theatre Company. This partnership has involved working closely with women affected by the criminal justice system both to inform the production itself, and through workshops, to support Clean Break's mission of using theatre as a tool for rehabilitation.
The Henry IV company have been deeply inspired by their involvement with this work and the women they have met through it. Through the release of 'Daddy's Gone', they are supporting the future of this work. As well as supporting Clean Break Theatre Company and the Donmar, proceeds will also support Justice for Women which supports women who have fought back against violent partners.
