Carl Rosa Opera Presents Gilbert & Sullivan at The Gielgud

Raymond Gubbay will present the Carl Rosa Opera company, currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, in the return of Gilbert & Sullivan to the West End for a limited five-week season at the Gielgud Theatre from 30 January - 1 March 2008. There will be special guest performances from Jo Brand, Nichola McAuliffe and Alistair McGowan. 

The Mikado, in which Nichola McAuliffe will perform 'Katisha' and Alistair McGowan 'The Mikado', will play from 30 January - 9 February. Choreographed by David Furnell and conducted by Martin Handley.

Iolanthe will play from 11-16 February. choreographed by Steve Elias and conducted by Richard Balcombe.

The Pirates of Penzance,in which Jo Brand will perform 'The Sergeant Of Police', will play from 18 February - 1 March. The company will include Eric Roberts, Bruce Graham, Steven Page, Charlotte Page, Lesley Cox, Sophie-Louise Dann, Barry Clark, Donald Maxwell, Gareth Jones, Karl Daymond, Victoria Ward, Michael Kerry, Beverley Klein and Deborah Myers. Choreographed by Steve Elias and conducted by Richard Balcombe.

The Mikado, Iolanthe and The Pirates of Penzance contain Gilbert & Sullivan's best known hits including "Three Little Maids From School", "I've Got A Little List", "A Wandering Minstrel I", "The Nightmare Song", "When Britain Really Ruled The Waves", "The Modern Major General", "Poor Wandering One" and "I Am A Pirate King". 

Performance times at the Gielgud Theatre will be 7.30pm Mondays-Saturdays, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm (with an extra matinee on 31 January).  Tickets, priced from £15.00-£49.50, are available from the Gielgud Theatre Box Office on 0844 482 5130 or online at www.delfontmackintosh.co.uk and www.raymondgubbay.co.uk.
