The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye is reporting that 'Bridget Jones' is heading to London's West End.
Author Helen Fielding has been working on a musical version of her original newspaper columns about a 32-year-old who keeps a diary detailing her hilarious attempts to take control of her life and find a man. The columns inspired Fielding to write two best-selling books - Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - which were later turned into hit movies starring Renee Zellweger.
The Daily Mail reports that Fielding had been working on the project for several months and hoped the musical would premiere in early 2011. To read the full Daily Mail article click here.
Bamigboye reports that the "project doesn't have a director yet, although a reading of the work Ms Fielding has done so far was performed for a small gathering in London recently and it was of some significance that Stephen Daldry and Peter Darling, the award-winning director and choreographer of the Billy Elliot musical (and film), were in The Audience."
Production Company Working Title, which was behind the Bridget Jones films, will produce the stage adaptation.
