The Daily Mail reports that Billie Piper and Oliver Chris are among the actors working on a top-secret new play for Richard Bean at the National Theatre.

The currently untitled piece will focus on "the sharp end of the tangled relationships between the Establishment, the Press and the police" and "will explore the fallout from the Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practice and ethics of the Press".

Piper, Chris and an ensemble of other actors are workshopping the play with Bean and Nicholas Hytner, who is set to direct the piece at the National Theatre's Lyttelton Theatre this summer, with a West-End transfer in the wings.

Piper last starred in the West End in 2012's The Effect. She also appeared in the London run of reasons to be pretty in 2011. Piper will next be seen in the upcoming TV series Penny Dreadful; she is well known for her role as 'Rose' in Doctor Who.

Chris starred opposite James Corden in 2011's hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors and is currently appearing in King Charles III at the Almeida in London. Chris made his West End debut in 2008's Well, followed by a turn in 2010's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, opposite Judi Dench. Among his TV credits are The Office, Green Wing, Rescue Me and the feature film Huge.
