According to various UK news sources, the popular group The Bee Gees are preparing for another stage musical based on a second compilation of their greatest hits. What's On Stage reports, "Brother Robin Gibb confirmed the status of the project this weekend while unveiling a green plaque at the former London home of the band's manager and producer Robert Stigwood, where they wrote songs including "Chain Reaction" and "Heartbreaker". He said that the new musical, which has been in the works for a few years (See The Goss, 27 Jun 2003), should be ready to hit the West End stage within 12 to 18 months."

The Bee Gees formed 40 years ago as a harmonically-rich group composed of Barry Gibb and his twin brothers Robin and Maurice. Maurice, sadly, passed away in 2003, and the Bee Gees stopped performing with his death. The Bee Gees are best known for their songs for the seminal film Saturday Night Fever (including the title song, "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love," and "More Than a Woman"). Their other albums include Size Isn't Everything, Still Waters, One Night Only and Spirits Having Flown.

Saturday Night Fever premiered at the West End's London Palladium in May 1998.  "Adapted for the stage by Stigwood, it featured Bee Gees songs from the original Grammy Award-winning motion picture soundtrack, including "Staying Alive", "Night Fever", "Jive Talkin'" and "How Deep Is Your Love" as well as two songs – "Immortality" and "First and Last" - written for the production by the brothers Gibb" describe press notes. It returned to the Victoria Theatre in 2004 after a UK tour.
