Quick-change master Arturo Brachetti took time out of his busy schedule to reveal his skills to BWW:UK editor Carrie Dunn. He's currently playing the Garrick Theatre, London, into the New Year, and is delighted to be back in Theatreland after a spell living in the city as a crazy-haired New Romantic in the mid-1980s.
In an amazing display of virtuosic skill, Arturo Brachetti brings over one hundred characters to the stage in a unique and spectacular show that simply has to be seen to be believed. From James Bond to the Queen via Johnny Rotten, he transforms between characters in the blink of an eye in an astonishing display of the time-honoured art of quick change. Arturo's own distinct brands of humour and charm combine with eye-popping illusions in a show that tells the story of a famed entertainer whose memories of his illustrious career come to life.
A theatrical phenomenon, Arturo Brachetti has almost single-handedly revived the lost art of quick change (practiced in Italy since the sixteenth century) with his vast repertoire of characters. In his new show, CHANGE, Brachetti tells the story of a legendary artiste of the Golden Age of cabaret, an unparalleled theatre magician, who, after a career that has taken him to some of the greatest theatres in the world, will finally take his place on the stage of London's West End.
Arturo Brachetti - Change will play at the Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited season from October 19 2009.
