BWW Reviews: COMEDY OF ERRORS, Open Air Theatre, June 29 2010

Although the title of Shakespeare's comedic farce may be The Comedy of Errors, I
personally found very little to fault. Updated to 1940s Casablanca, the play tells the story of
two sets of estranged twins the two Antipholus' played wonderfully by Daniel Weyman and
Daniel Llwelyn-Williams who also proved himself to be a wonderful trumpet player) and
their servants the Dromios played to comic perfection by Joseph Kloska and Josh Cohen
and the series of comedic mishaps and mistaken identity leading to their heart-warming
family reunion.

Music is a feature of the show performed wonderfully by a live swing band adding life to
scene changes and accompanying the fabulous vocals of Anna-Jane Casey's Courtesan.
The set, a billboard - welcoming the audience to Ephesus - setting the scene with various
operable doors and windows worked wonderfully, with various props being brought on and
off when needed. The outdoor setting and the sunset also added to the atmosphere during
the plays second act.

Overall, The Comedy of Errors was a greatly enjoyable evening at the theatre and one that i
would be happy to repeat... of course the success of this show will hinge on the weather but
if its as beautiful as last night then I can think of no better way to spend a summer evening.
