Review: LE GATEAU CHOCOLAT & JONNY WOO: A NIGHT AT THE MUSICALS, Soho Theatre ImageThere isn't much I can say apart from this is a truly wonderful night.

As soon as you enter the space there is a buzzing anticipation coming from the audience. Filled with devoted fans and eager first-timers, the vibe in the room is one of sheer excitement as we eagerly await the arrival of two of the most brilliant cabaret performers currently working today.

Olivier winning star of La Clique and La Soirée, Le Gateau Chocolate and Queen of the Alternative Drag scene, Jonny Woo, return home to London to finish their award winning sold out world tour.

Entering in glamorous attire, they joke around, bantering and poking fun at the other. The reads they give are the ultimate shade. Although at times their comments get pretty savage, it's never too much and it's clear that the pair posses a lot of love for one another. They bounce their banter incredibly well, sharing many moments of true connection.

Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast: nothing is safe in this eclectic mixed bag of performance. Instead of simply singing the songs as they are, the duo have adapted the lyrics, queering them to make them comedic and politically relevant.

As well as this they have put their own spin on how the songs are performed, adding riffs and key changes to suit their own vocal ability. Their range is sublime and no one can challenge the individuals' impressive talent. These two aren't just any old drag queens; they're superstars.

If you want an evening of hilarity, campiness and exuberant joy, then head into Soho to see this show. You're guaranteed to leave feeling happier than when you came in. The two performers' commitment for their art is contagious and their enthusiasm radiates amongst the entire space.
