Hi Victoria! First of all, what's the Curve Theatre like?
The Curve is a wonderful up-and-coming theatre and I'm so thrilled to be given the opportunity by Paul Kerryson to perform there in the production of Gypsy.
You've just started previews - how is it going so far?
The rehearsals felt as though they were over in a flash; as it's such a nice relaxed atmosphere, you found yourself looking forward stepping into the building on a daily basis.
We started previewing on the 10th March and finish April 15th. The whole experience has been a whirlwind of something I'm enjoying so much and don't want to end.
The creative team are something special - I couldn't imagine another influence from outside The Curve who could be more fitting for the production - and the cast have been cast incredibly correctly and precisely. We had a long day shooting an EPK yesterday but I absolutely love doing this show so there's no way I'll ever complain about the work schedule.
And what's Caroline O'Connor [who's playing Rose] like?
Getting to work with Caroline O'Connor is something of a dream and I couldn't even begin to tell you how professional, gracious, talented and generous this powerful lady really is.
She is incredible in the role of Momma Rose and I can't imagine anyone else playing the role, after seeing her portrayal, of such a difficult character, to pull off as well as she does.
Another cast member I work very close alongside and have also learnt a lot from is David Fleeshman. He is so kind and has become my adopted dad during this experience. Playing alongside David makes it easy to remember the kind of complex character I'm playing, which is of a young teenager, who doesn't know her true age and is made to believe by her mother she is 10 years old.
David treats me as though I'm one of his own onstage and off stage which gives us a solid relationship with the right sentiment.
Victoria Hamilton Barritt stars in Gypsy at the Curve Theatre, Leicester, until Sunday 15 April.
