Hello Lucy, thanks so much for speaking to us - you must be so busy!
I've literally just come out of the rehearsal room!
You must be so busy preparing for this six-month tour! Are you nervous or excited?
A bit of both. I'm excited, and we're all getting on perfectly, and having a good laugh. There are nerves - but mostly excited!
And you've got such an important role - you have to hold it together!
Exactly. I was told yesterday by our director, "Without you, the show doesn't go on!" I can't be ill, I can't forget my words, I'm on stage all the time - that's quite daunting. That's why I'm nervous. I've got to open every song, and I go off about twice for the entire show. It's a big role.
And with Joseph the energy never drops.
Yes. Absolutely. I find myself running up and down stairs, and I'm in heels as well, so hopefully I won't fall over.
How high are they?
Not too high! I'm practising in trainers, though. I've got to get used to standing in them - and singing in them!
Are you looking forward to touring? It's quite a gruelling schedule with Joseph, especially those double matinees.
We're all doing workouts. I went for a run at 5am yesterday morning. We warm up together every day, and although I used to go to muay thai classes every week and I was fit then, I've not done anything since then because I've been so busy. I think it'll be great, I'll probably lose some weight!
And how about looking after your voice?
We have two shows and three on a Saturday, so for me, that's something I've never done, and a completely different vocal technique, proper musical theatre. I'm enjoying it, but I've got a lot of throat teas I'm taking on tour with me, and of course I'll be warming up and warming down after the show - that's the most important bit.
