Hello David! You're starring as Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol - a very festive and traditional show. What makes your show special?

Well, it's in Middle Temple Hall, where Charles Dickens himself studied law - it's been preserved so beautifully. It's unbelievable, it's like stepping into a different world. It really adds an awful lot to it. It's also where the first-ever staging of Twelfth Night was. Finding that out blew me away. You see the history as well as the production.

This production has run in previous seasons, and David Burt is returning to the role of Scrooge - but you're new!

I'm a newbie! It's been lovely to see David Burt in action - he came in wtih such a knowledge and eased me in to it. He's phenomenal. I'd come and watch it just for him - he's fantastic, and it's a pleasure to see him.

I thought what [production company] Antic Disposition were doing was innovative and fantastic. Then I met up with them - they're fascinating and really passionate about what they do. It's hard to do something a bit different and daring, but they're doing something quite unique. They're a really exciting company.

You've also been in the recording studio lately...

I'm doing a few things - I'm recording parts of a new musical. You always hope they get to the stage, and often they don't because it's a tricky world, but this is wacky and brilliant. I'm also doing some recording for a new EP that I'm releasing next year at some point. It's been really nice to be back in the studio, something I did an awful lot when I was in the band, and it's a really homey environment. If you get your lines wrong you can just do it again! I love recording - I hope to do a lot more.

So what are your plans for 2016?

I finished Once about a year ago and that was everything I ever dreamed of doing - to do that in the West End was everything I ever wanted to do. So what do you do when all your dreams come true? I took some time out, my wife and I got married, we travelled, we're now expecting a baby, so now I'm just dipping my toe back in and enjoying working in an ensemble for this show. It's been fantastic fun - and I'm getting ready to create some new dreams...I hope that doesn't sound horribly cliche!

David Hunter stars as Bob Cratchit in Antic Disposition's A Christmas Carol at Middle Temple Hall from tonight until 30th December.
