Andrew Lloyd Webber to Use Westminster Venue for New Musical Tryouts

After workshopping his new musical SCHOOL OF ROCK at New York City's Gramercy Theatre, Andrew Lloyd Webber is eager for a space to try out musicals in the UK.

According to the Daily Mail, Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group is close to acquiring the St James Theatre in Westminster.

"It would be great to have a space to try out shows in London," Lloyd Webber told the Mail. Commenting on SCHOOL OF ROCK's Broadway run, he added: "I had slightly forgotten what it was like to have a hit in New York, I must say."

SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL just opened on Broadway and announced its upcoming run in London, followed by a tour across the U.S.

Also featured in the renowned composer/lyricist's oeuvre are CATS, EVITA, LOVE NEVER DIES, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMBOAT, ASPECTS OF LOVE, STARLIGHT EXPRESS, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND, THE WOMAN IN WHITE and more.
