Ambassador Theatre Group and Good To See have launched a new series of West End Workshops for schools and university students. The workshops start this autumn at Trafalgar Studios on Whitehall, and this is the first time that the workshops of have taken place in a venue and on a stage. They run alongside their current programme held in the historic Crown Church hall in Covent Garden.
For 26 years, educational travel providers, Good To See, have dedicated themselves to providing enrichment to the lives, knowledge and experiences of students.
Their curriculum-based travel itineraries open up a wealth of educational opportunities not necessarily available on a school's doorstep.
"London's theatre industry is a perfect example" says Good To See CEO, Simon Harding. "Good To See's West End itineraries enable teachers to introduce a myriad of real-world applications for their subject, using the exciting and motivational realm of theatre."
In offering the workshops created by Ambassador Theatre Group, Good To See itineraries can demonstrate points of the syllabus for a range of departments far beyond the traditional subjects of English and Drama.
Class outings and school trips have been created for Business Studies, Art and Design, Music, Citizenship, Music, Science, Tourism and Media Studies. In September 2009, with the help of DATA, Design and Technology itineraries were added and, this autumn, Good To See has embarked on a series of Road Shows to give D&T teachers an insight into how they might use these Learning Outside the Classroom opportunities to promote their subject through every key stage.
Good To See aim to provide good quality, safe, imaginative, out-of-classroom experiences to the young people of today's society.
Barry Grant, ATG Sales & Development Manager: "The West End Workshops are a great example of the kind of educational opportunities that exist for students thanks to ATG's successful commercial partnership with Good To See, and because the workshops take place within the venue, they should help give students a real insight into the industry."
