All-Male PIRATES To Play Wilton's Music Hall

The Pirates of Penzance by W S Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan will be at Wilton's Music Hall from Thursday 8 April to Friday 16 May 2010.

Sasha Regan's unique all-male version of Gilbert & Sullivan's classic operetta sold out at the Union Theatre in July 2009 and is the winner of What's On Stage's Best Off-West End Production Award.

The Pirates of Penzance (1879) was an instant hit and is one of the most popular Gilbert & Sullivan operettas.
The story concerns Frederic, who, on reaching 21, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tenderhearted pirates. He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and they fall instantly in love. Frederic finds out, however, that he was born on February 29, and so, technically, he only has a birthday each leap year. His apprenticeship states that he remains apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday, and so he must serve for another 63 years. Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully.
Russell Whitehead plays Frederick, Alan Richardson is Mabel, Ricky Rojas is the Pirate King, Fred Broom is the Major General.  Other cast include Samuel J. Holmes, Joe Maddison, Michael Burgen, Chris Theo-Cook, Stewart Charlesworth, Dieter Thomas, Lee Greenaway.

It is directed by Sasha Regan, with choreography by Lizzi Gee, musical director Chris Mundy, and lighting by Filippo Capitani   This is a Regan De Wynter Production in association with Wilton's Music Hall.
