Pantomime is coming to Times Square in Newcastle this Christmas and Adam Thomas (Emmerdale, I'm a Celebrity runner up) is joining the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk in the title role.

The cheeky chap will be starring in pantomime for the first time, alongside North East legend Denise Welch who will be providing the magic as Mother Nature in Geordieland this festive season. Denise will be returning to home turf after spending the summer months playing Mrs Otter in Wind in the Willows at the London Palladium. The pair will be reunited on stage after first appearing on screen together in BBC's Waterloo Road. Adam has since been a soap regular playing Adam Barton in ITV Emmerdale for eight years. In November 2016, Adam faced a number of his fears as a contestant on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - achieving third place as a runner up to jungle Queen Scarlett Moffatt - another North East favourite.

Following the recent announcement of his departure from the ITV soap, Adam will be going from screen to stage following in the footsteps of his older brother Ryan Thomas (Coronation Street) making his first journey into Pantoland this season.

Jack and the Beanstalk follows the story of young lad Jack (Adam Thomas), his brother Simple Simon (Sam Glen from BBC's Let It Shine) and their mother Dame Trott (Geordie Dame, Daniel Mawston)- they haven't a penny to their name and are forced to sell the family cow at Market. Mother Nature (Denise Welch) lends a helping hand when the Giant's henchman Fleshcreep (Stephen Sullivan) fools Jack into selling the cow for a bag of beans and takes her off to Cloudland whilst kidnaping the beautiful Princess Jill (Helen Slade).

Times Square is no stranger to sequins, having hosted The Ladyboys of Bangkok on numerous occasions and there's sure to be plenty more this year when NS Pantomimes invites audiences to Pantoland for the first time in a brand new purpose built theatre which will take over the toon for just three weeks this December. The indoor Pantodrome venue will house a 1,000 seat auditorium along with a luxury bar and hospitality facilities offering a platform for one of the biggest shows in the region. The production will be the first of its kind to be held in the Newcastle city centre location, which has recently become a gig hotspot, hosting the likes of Fatboy Slim, Ocean Colour Scene and Primal Scream.
