Michael Rose and Chris Moreno, the producers of Aladdin A Wish Come True at the Theatre at the O2, have taken the decision today to cancel the 2.00pm matinee performance tomorrow, Wednesday 12 December. This is because crucial technical work needs to be carried out on the mechanism that enables the magic carpet to fly during the show. As with all state of the art special effects, the mechanics have to be absolutely perfect down to the smallest detail. The technical work is necessary so that everything goes like clockwork during the show’s press night at 7.30pm tomorrow. In the show, Aladdin, played by Jon Lee, flies above the audience on the magic carpet and it is truly one of the breathtaking moments of the show. Producer Michael Rose said, “We are very sorry to cancel tomorrow’s matinee, but we felt it was important to make sure there were no hiccups ahead of tomorrow’s press night. We also believe that, if we didn’t do the necessary work tomorrow, the magic carpet may not have flown at the matinee performance either, and we really don’t want to disappoint the public. We will accommodate everyone booked in for tomorrow’s matinee at another performance of their choice, subject to availability. We certainly don’t want them to miss out on seeing what is going to be Lily Savage’s last public appearances – her Widow Twankey is something not to be missed!”
Anyone needing to exchange their tickets should contact their original point of purchase.
