Sweet Entertainments present A GUIDE TO SEXUAL MISERY the sex therapy that became Austria's No1 comedy stage hit starring "the country's most prominent sexologist since Sigmund Freud" (The Guardian)
How often should I have sex? What do women really want? Am I tooold/young/fat/beautiful/whatever for ‘it'?
People seeking the answer to these and other intimate sexual questions could turn to self-help books, magazine agony aunts or even seek personal therapy... But a damn good laugh in the theatre might just be the best answer! That's precisely what you get in A Guide To Sexual Misery as Wolfgang Weinberger delivers a hysterically funny romp through the minefield of sexual relations.
With more than 500,000 satisfied fans, A Guide To Sexual Misery is to make its West End debut with 14 dates at the Leicester Square Theatre, between Thursday 23 April - Saturday 23 May (press night Thursday 23 April).
So, is a lecture, a comedy show or sex therapy? "The answer is a bit of all three, says Wolfgang. "Some people come for the laughs, some because they think their partners will benefit and some just want to hear about other people's sex life. But almost all rush off after the show with a few burning new ideas to attend to ASAP. This show will divide you but in the end it'll reunite you!"
Wolfgang Weinberger is an unlikely sex expert. He graduated from the Vienna School of Economics then got his MA in Filmmaking at the University of Southern California. He started a comedy troupe, called "The Killer Tomatoes" which toured Austria and Germany and was awarded the "Salzburger Stier", the most prestigious comedy award in the German-speaking countries. He directed hundreds of TV commercials and a number of TV shows. His theatre credits include the German version of the off-Broadway hit "Tony and Tina's Wedding", which he adapted and directed.
A Guide To Sexual Misery started life as therapy by Austrian therapist Bernhard Ludwig for recovering heart attack patients. What they wanted to know was how soon could they start to have sex again? From there it was a small step to "How often should I do it?" and on to "How should I do it?" Then someone suggested that "healthy" people might like to hear Bernhard's views on sex too. 34 friends and relatives attended the first public performance in a tiny theatre. In just a few years the show evolved, with the presentation baton being handed to Wolfgang Weinberger, and the show selling out the 2,500-seat Vienna Concert Hall. In 2008, it was a sell-out success at the Edinburgh fringe festival.
WARNING: This show could dramatically change your sex life!
