Greenbrier VAlley Theatre, the State Professional Theatre of West Virginia, presents a Ken Ludwig masterpiece, Moon Over Buffalo. This outrageous comedy will run June 30 & July 1, July 6-8, July 12-14 and July 19-22 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance July 22 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $30 for general admission, $27 for seniors and $20 for children/students. For tickets or more information, call GVT's Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.
Over-the-hill actors George and Charlotte Hay have one last chance at stardom and they're ready to do whatever is necessary. As the Hays try to put on the perfect performance they must face a new obstacle around every corner. In this hysterical farce by Ken Ludwig, the Hays finally get their chance, but can they reach the stars?
Jake Williamson, who will portray Howard, made his GVT debut in 2016 with Pump Boys and Dinettes alongside local musicIan Randy Goodson. Williamson is no stranger to Ludwig's work. Like some of his costars, he has had the opportunity to be a part of a Ludwig comedy in the past.
"I was fortunate enough to play Max in Lend Me A Tenor, another Ken Ludwig play. I had such a fun time doing that show because the stakes are so high and as an actor I got to let go of the reins and embrace the chaos," the returning actor said.
Ludwig's talent for creating comedy through chaos has brought many well-known actors to the stage. Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche starred in Twentieth Century, and the world premiere of Moon Over Buffalo earned Carol Burnett a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play.
Mary Poindexter Williams, a lifelong theatre enthusiast, now has her chance to join that elite group of actors and play the part of the half-deaf mother-in-law Ethel. She was last seen in this season's production of Pippin as well 2014's Is He Dead? and is looking forward to being a part of such a fast-paced, lighthearted romp.
"With all the serious and somber events going on in the world right now, Moon Over Buffalo is the perfect escape; a wonderful chance to laugh ... and walk out of the theatre feeling good!" Williams said.
This side-splitting production runs June 30 & July 1, July 6-8, July 12-14 and July 19-22 at 7:30 p.m., with a Pay-What-You-Can Preview performance June 29 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance July 22 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for general admission, $27 for seniors and $20 for children/students. For tickets or more information, call GVT's Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visitwww.gvtheatre.org. This program is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
