The Clay Center in Charleston, WV has announced their 2018-2019 Broadway in Charleston line up! Classics and new hits combine to ensure a great season for theatre lovers in the area.
First up in November of 2018 is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, followed by Legally Blonde in February, Finding Neverland in March, Kinky Boots and Chicago the Musical in April, and topped off with the hilarious Something Rotten! in May. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the beloved musical based on the cherished children's story, will kick off the season on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Featuring a cast brimming with holiday favorite characters such as the Elf, the Abominable Snow Monster, and Santa, this show is sure to delight those of all ages.
Next up will be Legally Blonde: The Musical on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at 7:30 PM. Based on the hilarious movie of the same name, this show follows Elle Woods, a sorority girl, who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. During her time at the school Elle learns the meaning of having faith in herself, the satisfaction that comes from helping others, and what it means to follow your heart.
Finding Neverland, the musical based on the movie of the same name, will grace the Clay Center's stage on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at 7:30 PM. This show follows the life of J.M. Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, and his relationship with the family who inspired the story.
Kinky Boots, the hit show which just celebrated it's 5th year on Broadway, will come through town on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at 7:30 PM. The story, inspired by true events, follows Charlie Price after inheriting a shoe factory from his father. With the factory on the verge of closing, Charlie befriends a drag queen named Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots. Together, they work to save the factory and realize that they are not so different after all.
On Wednesday, April 24th, 2019 at 7:30 PM Chicago the Musical will light up the stage. This long running musical about a woman thrown in jail for murder but with dreams of becoming a stage star has delighted and entertained audiences since its original Broadway premiere in 1975.
Topping off the Broadway Series is the recent Broadway hit Something Rotten! On Thursday, May 16th, 2019 at 7:30 PM. Something Rotten! Is a musical comedy chronicling the lives of two brothers as they struggle to find success in the theatrical world dominated by the popularity of William Shakespeare.
