Audition Notice: THE FULL MONTY at the CHARLESTON LIGHT OPERA GUILD THEATRE  Image

Auditions for Charleston Light Opera Guild's The Fully Monty are set for early April. The ten-time Tony Award nominated show, based on the hit film of the same name, will take place at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theatre this June as part of FestivALL 2018. The Full Monty features a book written by Terrance McNally, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek.

Audition Dates: Thursday, April 5th, 2018 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at 6:00 PM

Location: Charleston Light Opera Guild Theatre, 411 Tennessee Ave, Charleston, WV 25302

Audition Details: April 5th will cover singing and reading. Prepare a classic Broadway song to perform. Include a copy of the sheet music for the Guild accompanist if you are not planning on singing from the score. Please, no acapella. April 8th will be the dance auditions for males only. Dress to dance, combinations will be taught at the audition.

Show Synopsis: Unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo, upon spying on their wives during a girl's night out, become jealous after witnessing the attention the women are giving the male strippers. Feeling emasculated and unable to provide for their wives, the men band together to make some quick cash. What follows is a heartfelt and hilarious story about overcoming fear, prejudice, and self-consciousness.

Roles Available and Requirements:

Jerry Lukowski - Lead, an unemployed steel worker, age 30 through 40, rock, tenor, B2-Db5, strong controlled falsetto, strong actor; a complex regular guy with tenderness towards his son; preferably good looking.

Nathan Lukowski - Jerry's young son, age 12; sings age appropriate.

Pam Lukowski - Jerry's estranged wife, age 30 through 40, Teddy's fiancée, alto/mezzo with belt; she sincerely wants Jerry to be an active parent for Nathan.

Dave Bukatinsky - An unemployed steel worker, age 30 through 40, lyric tenor with strong falsetto; Jerry's best friend; he struggles with unemployment and its effect on his marriage; loveable and good natured, but with body weight and self-esteem issues.

Georgie Bukatinsky - Dave's wife, age 30 through 40, high alto/broad mezzo belter; a warm and down to earth gal that enjoys kicking up her heels; her exuberance opens the show.

Malcolm MacGregor - An unemployed mill worker, age 25 through 40, high tenor, smooth falsetto; a shy gay man.

Ethan Girard - An unemployed steel worker, age 25 through 40, high baritone/tenor; remains an optimist while struggling with unemployment and friendship; good physical comedy role.

Noah "Horse" T. Simmons - A retired African-American mill worker, Age 50+, baritone/tenor; he sings and dances the funky show-stopping "Big Black Man".

Harold Nichols - an unemployed supervisor at the mill. Hot metal's choreographer. Thinks his worth comes from providing for his wife, so he hides his unemployment from her. Age 35 through 45.

Vicki Nichols - Harold's wife, age 30 through 55, high alto/broad mezzo belter; charming and energetic; loves Prada ensembles and her husband; flamboyant on the surface; comedic role.

Jeannette Burmeister - The piano player, age 50+, low alto belter, F3-Bb4; not easily shocked; great "Showbiz" number.

Teddy Slaughter - Pam's Fiancé, age 35 through 55; may sing in a couple of songs; the opposite of Jerry.

Buddy "Ken' Walsh" - Handsome male stripper, age 21 through 32; opens the show with a Chippendale-esque performance for the Buffalo ladies; can double in other roles.

The girls - Estelle Genovese (Jerry's younger sexy girlfriend); Susan Hershey, Joanie Lish, Dolores (Doubles as Molly MacGregor, Malcolm's aged ailing mother), ages 20 through 60; may double in other roles.

The Guys - Reg Willoughby (union leader), Tony Giordana (Club Owner), Marty, Gary - Ages 20 through 50, may double in other roles.
