Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett is a minimalist, existential play that follows two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, as they wait for the elusive Godot. Set on a desolate country road, the pair pass the time through debate on when Godot will come, why they’re waiting for him, and whether they’re even at the right tree… The play explores themes of time, uncertainty, and the human condition, raising questions about the purpose of life and the search for meaning. Despite their constant waiting, the characters’ situation remains unchanged, leaving the audience to reflect on the futility and absurdity of existence.
Source Theatre is at 1835 14th Street NW, Washington, DC.
