Six spellers bravely enter the competition with hopes of winning the ultimate prize – a trip to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Intent on avoiding the soul-crushing “ding” of the bell signaling a spelling mistake, they pour out their hearts, revealing touching and hilarious stories from their tween vantage point. It’s a show that anyone who’s ever been a kid can relate to – where even the losers get a juice box!
The cast features John Poncy as Leaf Coneybear; Leah Graham as Olive Ostrovsky; Jake Deering as William Barfee; Madelyn Regan as Rona Lisa Peretti; Allie Blanchet as Logan Schwartzandgrubenierre; Jane Keifer as Marcy Park; David Garcia as Vice Principal Douglas Panch; Rhett Thomas as Chip Tolentino; and Morgan Palmer as Mitch Mahoney.
The show is directed by Sierra Lockrem, Music Directed by Matthew Brown, Choreographed by Syd Austin, and will feature costumes by Lori Crockett and props by Maggie Shircliff.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee wlll perform at the Franklin Park Arts Center on October 18th at 7pm and October 19th at 2pm and 7pm. The show runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
