Folger Consort opens its 2024/25 season with a series of concerts titled Tale of Two Cities: Music of Florence and Venice, featuring early music from the vibrant musical landscapes of these historic cities. Performances will showcase works by Claudio Monteverdi and highlight pieces celebrating Florence's artistic legacy, including contributions from Heinrich Isaac and Niccolo Machiavelli, as well as excerpts from Francesca Caccini's groundbreaking opera. Renowned Italian musicians Marcello Mazzetti and Livio Ticli will join forces with the ensemble, which includes performers such as Tatiana Chulochnikova, Robert Eisenstein, and Sherezade Panthaki. The concerts take place from September 13 to September 15, 2024, in the Elizabethan Theatre at the Folger Shakespeare Library.
