Dima Slobodeniouk, conductor
Yefim Bronfman, piano
Johannes Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 2
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4
Brahms called his Piano Concerto No. 2 “a tiny little piano concerto with a wisp of a scherzo,” but it is considered one of the most expansive and ambitious compositions for piano. Grammy®–winning virtuoso Yefim Bronfman more than masters the challenge with a “marvel of digital dexterity, warmly romantic sentiment, and jaw-dropping bravura” (Chicago Tribune).
Fanfares of fate follow as Dima Slobodeniouk conducts Tchaikovsky’s explosive Symphony No. 4—an evolution of wistful poetry to optimism and ultimately, renewed love of life.
Concert Hall at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is at 2700 F Street NW , Washington, DC.
