Mame is a celebrated Broadway musical “classic” that revolves around the hilarious antics of Mame Dennis, a fun-loving, wealthy eccentric with a razor sharp wit and a flair for living life to the fullest. However, that care-free life changes unexpectedly when she becomes the inexperienced guardian of her late brother’s only child, Patrick. Later, when the stock market crashes and the great depression hits, Mame loses her fortune. Her life is turned upside-down until she’s rescued by a well-to-do southern plantation owner whom she marries and loses all too suddenly. Through all these ups and downs, Mame’s invincible character shines through as she strives to keep her tumultuous existence under control—even though things at 3 Beekman Place generally seem to be a rousing, never-ending free-for-all! Memorable songs include Mame, It’s Today, Open a New Window, If He Walked into My Life, We Need a Little Christmas, Bosom Buddies, and That’s How Young I Feel. Sandy Bainum stars as Mame Dennis with the incomparable Sally Struthers as Agnes Gooch.
