We Happy Few will present Bram Stoker's DRACULA as the next installment of its Classics in Action series.

Experience this nightmarish achievement of storytelling as it propels you through the memorandum, newspaper clippings, and diary pages of a frantic vampire hunt. With faithful adherence to Stoker's text, immersive staging, and chilling, terrifying (and of course silly) performances, we bring the audience into the heart of DRACULA's conflict: the intersection of predator and prey.

Listen to them - the children of the night. What music they make. You dwellers in the city cannot enter into the feelings of the hunter.

DRACULA is set to electrify a variety of performance spaces across the DC Metro area. After a soft opening at The Shed, a house show/gallery space in NE in mid September, We Happy Few (WHF) is set to perform DRACULA at Otis Street Arts Project on October 14, The Southeast Library on October 26, and Capitol Hill Arts Workshop on October 30. In addition to our DC run, Dracula will also make the trek down to Durham, NC to appear at SPECTRE Arts. DRACULA is a family-friendly show, and kids are welcome at all performances.

Robert Pike (HENRY V, CHALK) will direct a cast of four DC actors and artists in DRACULA. The production features Kerry McGee (A MIDNIGHT DREARY, THE WINTER'S TALE), Jon Reynolds (A MIDNIGHT DREARY, CHALK), Grant Cloyd (BROTHER MARIO: Flying V) and Meg Lowey. The four actors will take on numerous roles, musical instruments, and shadow puppets over the course of the fast-paced, hour-long theatrical experience.

Founded in 2012 by Hannah Todd and Raven Bonniwell, We Happy Few is committed to presenting productions that offer a unique perspective on classic texts. We Happy Few has established itself as one of Washington D.C.'s best small theatre companies (the DCist, 2015) by nurturing a creative environment that thrives on ensemble collaborations with some of the nation's most promising emerging theatre artists.
WHF's flagship production of a six actor, 90-minute HAMLET premiered at the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival to great acclaim, exploring the idea that the entire play unfolded in the title character's mind. WHF's production of HENRY V last spring was hailed as "a fascinating, resonant, and important new take on a known work" (Broadway World). DC Metro Theater Arts declared that We Happy Few's work is "a new approach to Shakespeare you will not want to miss."

DRACULA is the second production in our Classics In Action series, a program that is devoted to bringing classic literature to life as theatrical experiences. By allowing the audience to join in aspects of the performance, transforming nontraditional spaces, and offering drink pairings specially tailored to each story, we hope to turn a novel into a night to remember. We Happy Few kicked off their Classics In Action series last year with A MIDNIGHT DREARY, an evening of three Edgar Allan Poe stories that kept the audience moving through multiple spaces as the stories unfolded. Look for an encore one- evening performance of A MIDNIGHT DREARY at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop on November 20.
