We Happy Few is excited to announce their first full season of theatre.

DRACULA

We Happy Few will kick off a year of thought-provoking and action-packed productions with DRACULA, appearing in several locations across Washington, DC and Durham, North Carolina in September and October 2017.

"Listen to them - the children of the night. What music they make. You dwellers in the city cannot enter into the feelings of the hunter. "

Experience this nightmarish achievement of storytelling as it drags you through the memorandum, newspaper clippings, and diary pages of a frantic vampire hunt. With faithful adherence to Stoker's text, immersive staging, and chilling, terrifying (and of course silly) performances, we bring the audience into the heart of Dracula's conflict: the intersection of predator and prey.

THE DOG IN THE MANGER

We Happy Few returns to their artistic home at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in November for THE DOG IN THE MANGER by Lope De Vega.

"If she can't eat, nobody will."

When the Countess Diana's secretary, Teodoro, expresses his love for her lady-inwaiting, Marcela, Diana finds herself consumed with jealousy - and, to her surprise, in love with Teodoro. The two women begin an intense battle against class, wealth, and the common disregard for the desires of others as they fight for Teodoro's affections. A humorous, but insightful examination of privilege, THE DOG IN THE MANGER leaves us asking, "If I raised my voice, would any of this change?"

PERICLES

Closing the season in May 2018 is PERICLES by William Shakespeare, also performed at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.

"Till Fortune, tired with doing bad, threw him ashore, to give him glad."

Careening between sea storms, high courts, bawdy brothels, palace intrigue and cases of mistaken identity; Pericles examines the will of the human spirit to endure all obstacles no matter how weighty or unlikely. At once a story of adventure, passion, and loss; PERICLES asks if humankind can ever truly be the masters of fate.

ABOUT WE HAPPY FEW PRODUCTIONS

Founded in 2012 by Hannah Todd and Raven Bonniwell, We Happy Few is committed to presenting productions that offer a unique perspective on classic texts. We Happy Few has established itself as one of Washington D.C.'s best small theatre companies (the DCist, 2015) by nurturing a creative environment that thrives on ensemble collaborations with some of the nation's most promising emerging theatre artists. WHF's flagship production of a six actor, 90-minute HAMLET premiered at the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival to great acclaim, exploring the idea that the entire play unfolded in the title character's mind. WHF's production of HENRY V last spring was hailed as "a fascinating, resonant, and important new take on a known work" (Broadway World). DC Metro Theater Arts declared that We Happy Few's work is "a new approach to Shakespeare you will not want to miss."
