The Keegan Theatre opens its 20th season with the regional premiere of Theresa Rebeck's What We're Up Against, a scathing, ferocious comedy about sexism in the workplace. Set in ahighly competitive architecture firm, What We're Up Against takes an explosive look at the complicatEd Battle of the sexes and one woman's response when she tires of slamming into the glass ceiling.
Directed by Keegan Associate Artistic Director Susan Marie Rhea, What We're Up Against features company members Peter Finnegan (DEALER OF BALLYNAFEIGH), Michael Innocenti (AN AMERICAN DAUGHTER), and Brianna Letourneau (CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF), as well as Carolyn Kashner and Stephen Russell Murray.
"We've been chomping at the bit to produce Rebeck for several years, so I'm thrilled to be finally getting one of her scripts up at Keegan, and helming the production of this hot-button play is a great honor," says Rhea. "I wasn't familiar with this play before I found the script last year -- but as soon as I read it, I knew this was the one. Rebeck's voice is so sharp, her wit and commentary are so incisive: and to be tackling this subject matter during this particular moment in history feels particularly exciting. I'm delighted that Keegan is kicking off our 20th anniversary season with this largely unknown script by a brilliant playwright like Rebeck. It's a bold choice. And it feels right."
