The Welders-Washington's only playwrights' collective devoted exclusively to developing and producing new plays-will host its annual fundraiser, the Joint-at the Arts Club of Washington. It will be a night of games, but you won't be "board"!
Each of the eight Welders will preside over a special game themed around their playwriting process -from
Superfights - inspired by Stephen Spotswood's martial arts play Girl in the Red Corner - to fast-paced wordplay game
Anomia, to the thrilling high-stakes environmental challenge
Beasts of Balance. The evening will be a fun opportunity for theater fans and gamers to sample party games while learning about the artists behind The Welders.
"We think it will be a fun way to welcome people into our creative process," says Producing Playwright Alexandra Petri, whose play will be produced by the company in the summer. "Our playwriting model is far from traditional, so why would our fundraiser be? Also, board games!"
Don't miss this spectacular evening of fun and camaraderie, complete with tasty food, beverages, a champagne toast, and a live auction.

About The Welders: The Welders is a DC-based playwrights' collective whose mission is to establish an evolving, alternative platform for play development and production. The intent of that platform is to inspire and encourage members to take risks and make bold leaps in exploring the craft of playwriting; produce one performance of work created by each member playwright over the course of three years; create significant, meaningful, direct engagement between artists and members of the community; and support future generations of DC-area playwrights.
