The Kennedy Center announced today a new comedy show this summer by Asperger's Are Us, the first comedy troupe consisting of openly autistic people. The foursome's hilarious performance takes place on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Family Theater. Tickets are $20 and go on sale to Kennedy Center Members on Monday, June 6, 2016 and to the general public on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Tickets will be available for purchase in person at the Kennedy Center Box Office, by calling InstantCharge at (202) 467-4600, and through the Kennedy Center website at www.kennedy-center.org. This show is appropriate for anyone who has started puberty (or 13+).

Asperger's Are Us formed on the North shore of Massachusetts in the summer of 2010, after New Michael Ingemi, Jack Hanke, and Ethan Finlan graduated from summer camp where Noah Britton was their counselor. The four members have been performing original sketch comedy ever since. They have appeared throughout New England and continue to spread awareness for autism rights, saying they believe strongly in the positive aspects of Asperger Syndrome. They have also noted they would "much rather (the audience) appreciate us as comedians than as people who've overcome adversity."

Asperger's Are Us has garnered much attention and praise. They recently caught the eye of creative duo, The Duplass Brothers, who produced a film about them which will air later this year on Netflix. The film, also called Asperger's Are Us, premiered at South by Southwest in 2016 and has been described as "poignant, heartwarming and humorous coming-of-age film."
