The Ford's Theatre Society offers evening performances of the one-act play "One Destiny" by Richard Hellesen June 11-July 6, 2013.
"One Destiny" was commissioned by the Ford's Theatre Society to bring the drama and emotion of the American Civil War to life through informative and entertaining theatre. This unique 35-minute play captures the emotions of that fateful night in 1865, as told through the eyewitness accounts of actor Harry Hawk and Ford's Theatre co-owner Harry Ford, among others. As they reconstruct the sequence of events, they grapple with the question: Could John Wilkes Booth have been stopped? Starting June 11, evening performances run Tuesdays through Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. (except July 4), and Wednesdays through Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. (exceptJuly 4). There will be performances Monday, July 1 at 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
"One Destiny" was honored with The Washington Post Award for Innovative Leadership in the Theatre Community in 2011, and celebrated its 500th performance in June 2012. The performance is appropriate for ages 8 and up.
