This Fall, Atlas Presents Jazz series will feature Argentinian singer, composer, and actress Sofia Viola, as well as contemporary jazz artists Cecily Bumbray and Akua Allrich & the Tribe.

On 10/6, Jazz vocalist and DC-native Akua Allrich returns to the Atlas with her tribute to two powerhouse singers, Nina Simone, and Miriam Makeba. This talented Howard University graduate is making a name for herself in the US and beyond with a musical style that draws from blues, soul, jazz, and pan-African music. Akua leads a sizzling hot band in renditions of beloved songs made famous by Simone and Makeba. This evening of classic hits performed by today's finest vocal talent is not to be missed.

On 10/11, Sofia Viola takes the stage embracing her guitar and charangón and performs her songs which drift from tango to vibrations of the Andes, from milonga to happy cumbia, from rock to vallenato, and from chamamé to blues, in a show that is pure interpretative power. She composes songs in which she professes her unconditional love for Latin American folklore in all its dimensions. In her solo show, she tells micro-stories that speak of love, ecology, junk food, and universal themes from her perspective. This engagement of Sofia Viola is funded through Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America, a program of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

On 11/16, Wammie Winner for Best Soul Album in 2019, Cecily presents her soulful love letter to her beloved hometown of DC, including songs from the album Songs of Love and Freedom.

On 12/16 Brad Linde and The Bohemian Caverns Orchestra brings us a holiday favorite, A Bohemian Christmas.

The Atlas Performing Arts Center is the Art Beat of H Street.
