Keegan PLAY-RAH-KA presents Sarah Argent's play for young people and families, The Bockety World of Henry & Bucket, opening on March 19, 2018 at the Andrew Keegan Theatre in Washington, DC.
The production is designed for kids as young as 4 years old and plays for public audiences at Keegan on Saturday, March 24, Sunday, March 25, and Sunday, March 31 at 11:00 am. The weekday performances have been fully reserved for DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter Schools thanks to a generous grant from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
What is friendship? What happens when it goes wrong? What do you have to do to make it work? Henry and Bucket are best pals, although sometimes you wouldn't think so! Like all good friends, they have their ups and downs, their battles and reconciliations, their shared adventures and, at times, their need for space. But as long as these two friends are together, transforming their rusty, dusty, battered and bockety world into a place of wonder, their adventures can take them anywhere! Rhythmic, humorous, and rich in visual antics, this play explores friendship - what it is, what happens when it goes wrong, and how to fix it - through a day in the life of Henry and Bucket.
The Bockety World of Henry & Bucket is directed by Ricky Drummond, the 2017 recipient of Keegan's Emerging Artist award, and features actors Daven Ralston and Josh Thomas.
"Keegan PLAY-RAH-KA is dedicated to presenting theatre that relies on an audience's imagination and has familiar themes that the whole family can understand. Henry and Bucket's relationship can be bockety or unsteady, but it's still functional... something everyone can relate to. Friendship has ups and downs, and sometimes we all get on each other's nerves, but at the end of the day, having a friend by your side is the best feeling in the world," Alexis Hartwick, Keegan Theatre Director of Education explains.
Originally developed in collaboration with Barnstorm Theatre Company, an acclaimed Irish company that creates theatre for and with children and young people, Bockety encourages children to be imaginative and creative, particularly when resources may be scarce. Keegan PLAY-RAH-KA presents a truly kid-friendly and vibrant environment where children can wriggle, shout to the characters, and laugh out loud.
The Bockety World of Henry & Bucket opens March 19, 2018 at the Andrew Keegan Theatre in Washington, DC, and runs through April 11.
