Synetic Theater Announces THE REAWAKENING 2017-18 Season

Synetic Theater Founding Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili unveils the 2017/18 Season, reviving Synetic Family Theater and producing a brand new series created through collaboration by theatre professionals. The Reawakening promises to bring back what audiences love about Synetic Theater, while introducing audiences to what Synetic Theater is passionate about.


Producing an entire series of new works, the 2017/18 Season begins in October with a high-spirited and acrobatic interpretation of The Adventures of Peter Pan. Then, just in time for the holiday season, Synetic Theater will bring back their popular Family Theater Series to present a wordless Hansel and Gretel that will delight audiences of all ages. In January, Synetic will explore one man's encounters with the invisible Law and the untouchable Court, in Franz Kafka's The Trial. Following in April, visionary Founding Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili, will bring the highly anticipated Titus Andronicus,in all its wrathful glory to the Synetic stage. To round out the season, Synetic Theater will continue to break the mold of the DC Theatre scene by presenting a thought-provoking and innovative original work created entirely through collaboration with theatre professionals, thus introducing the Synetic New Voice Series.

The Adventures of Peter Pan October 18 >> November 19, 2017 Press Opening: Saturday, October 21, 2017 Industry Night: Monday, October 30, 2017 "All the world is made of faith, trust, and pixie dust." Take flight to Neverland with Peter Pan, his Lost Boys and the Darling children! In this magical place filled with fairies, pirates, and mermaids, Peter Pan and crew will battle the delightfully sinister Captain Hook with acrobatics that will leave you on the edge of your seat! This production is recommended for ages 7+ for moments younger viewers may find frightening.


Synetic Family Theater presents: Hansel and Gretel December 1, 2017 >> December 23, 2017 Press Opening: Saturday, December 2, 2017 "Why do you come here in the dark of the forest?" Follow the trail of white pebbles and breadcrumbs to Synetic Theater for this magical production of The Brothers Grimm well-known fairytale, Hansel and Gretel. In this wordless production, viewers young and old will be transported to the house in the woods built of bread and cakes with windowpanes of sugar. It is here where Hansel and Gretel must outsmart the half-blind and hungry Witch in order to return to their family. This wordless Synetic Family Theater production is suitable for all ages.

The Trial January 17, 2018 >> February 18, 2018 Press Opening: Saturday, January 21, 2018 Industry Night: Monday, January 29, 2018 "It's in the nature of this judicial system that one is condemned not only in innocence but also in ignorance." Picture this: A 30-year-old man going about his day, when suddenly without cause or warning, he is arrested while at work. Two unidentified agents from an unspecified agency arrest this man for an unspecified crime. While this story might sound as if it had been ripped from the headlines, it is from Franz Kafka's 1914/15 The Trial. Synetic Theater will explore the struggles of "K" and his encounters with the invisible Law and the untouchable Court. This production is recommended for ages 14+ for sexual situations.

Titus Andronicus April 25, 2018 >> May 27, 2018 Press Opening: Saturday, April 28, 2018 Industry Night: Monday, May 7, 2018 "Revenge is a dish best served silent." The production you've all been waiting for, Titus Andronicus from Synetic's visionary Founding Artistic Director, Paata Tsikurishvili. Lucky number 13 in the "Silent Shakespeare" series, Paata will sink his teeth into this revenge-driven tragedy and tell the bloody tale of Titus and Tamora with all of the fiery passion, energy, and vengeance only Synetic Theater can deliver. This production is recommended for ages 16+ for violence.

Synetic New Voice Series: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz July 11, 2018 >> August 12, 2018 Press Opening: Saturday, July 14, 2018 Industry Night: Monday, July 23, 2018 With the premier of the Synetic New Voice Series, theatre professionals will work together to create, choreograph, cast, and direct an original adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, seen only on the Synetic Theater stage.
