Studio Theatre in Washington, DC has extended its hit production of Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori's Caroline, or Change. Originally scheduled to run through June 25th, it will now play almost a month longer at the company's Metheny Theatre through July 23rd.
Directed by Greg Ganakas, the production stars Julia Nixon as Caroline Thibodeaux, Max Talisman as Noah Gellman and Trisha Jeffrey as Emmie Thibodeaux, as well as Allison Blackwell (Washing Machine/Moon), Zachary Blumenstein (Jackie Thibodeaux), Kearstin Piper Brown, (Radio), Ilona Dulaski (Grandma Gellman), Elmore James (Bus/Dryer), Kameron Lamar (Joe Thibodeaux), Otts Laupus (Mr. Stopnick), Omoro Omoighe (Radio), Monique Paulwell (Radio), Kelly J. Rucker (Dotty), Jim Scopeletis (Grandpa Gellman), Bobby Smith (Stuart Gellman) and Tia Speros (Rose Stopnick Gellman). The show opened on May 17th."As the Civil Rights movement ignites passions across the American South, one ordinary African-American woman dreams of changing her life. Caroline works as a maid for a Jewish family in Louisiana. When her employers tell her she can keep the change she finds in their eight-year-old son's pockets, they set in motion a series of events that will alter both Caroline and their family forever," state press notes on the sung-through show, which boasts music by Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie) and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winner Kushner (Angels in America).Videos
