A totally make-believe man who dresses properly for any occasion might seem unusual, but then, there's also the landscape painter who wears a lighted minor's lamp and only paints at night. These characters define "Moon Over the Brewery" as not the ordinary play about family dynamics. Possum Point Players present Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham's "mostly" comedy beginning today, April 15, and continuing April 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets, $18 adults and $17 seniors and students, may be purchased on line at possumpointplayers.org or by calling 302-856-4560.

A contemporary tale of Miriam, a single mom, and her teenage daughter, Amanda, who is armed with a genius IQ, "Moon Over the Brewery" is described as a very funny, very moving play. Providing some of the funny aspects is the imaginary, but frequently present and overbearing Randolph who lives in Amanda's mind, but often imposes his will on everyone. Warren, a low-key, modest person, is a postman who fancies Miriam and unwittingly comes to be Randolph's competition for the minds and hearts of the mother and daughter.

Reviewers' comments about "Moon Over the Brewery" include "Each person is unique. Sometimes, as in the case of the two most important characters in Bruce Graham's romantic comedy "Moon Over the Brewery," the differences between people might make an individual seem bizarre or even crazy." The mother who only paints "moonscapes" after her day job and the daughter who teases, conspires and argues with a man she made up could either or both be seen as bizarre and/or crazy from time to time. The play offers whole hearted entertainment and paints thought-provoking scenes of family and romantic relationships.

Abigail Porter of Laurel, Audrey Fisher Killen of Frankford, Georgetown resident Don Megee and Mike Mahaffie of Lewes make up the cast. "Moon Over the Brewery" is directed by Mike Polo of Dover; Bridgeville resident Jill Lewandowski is assistant director.

"Moon Over the Brewery" is being produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
